Anti-Spam Policy

Rules for email, SMS, messages, and outreach sent through or in connection with QuoteFinder.ca

Quick summary: QuoteFinder.ca does not allow spam, mass unsolicited outreach, deceptive messaging, or misuse of client/provider contact information. Users and providers must send communications lawfully, with appropriate consent where required, include accurate sender information, and honor opt-outs/unsubscribe requests. We may restrict or remove accounts for spam or messaging abuse.

1. Purpose of this policy

This Anti-Spam Policy explains how QuoteFinder.ca (“QuoteFinder.ca”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) works to prevent spam and messaging abuse on our platform and in communications connected to platform use.

It applies to clients/consumers, providers (agents/brokers/advisors), brokerages, team accounts, and any user who sends or causes messages to be sent using QuoteFinder.ca or information obtained from QuoteFinder.ca.

2. Scope of communications covered

This policy applies to electronic and related communications sent through, generated by, or connected to QuoteFinder.ca, including:

  • email communications;
  • SMS/text messages;
  • in-platform messages and notifications;
  • push notifications (if supported);
  • phone outreach connected to quote requests (where applicable);
  • automated or templated messaging workflows;
  • communications using contact information obtained from the Platform.

Important

This policy applies both to messages sent directly through platform tools and to messages sent outside the platform using contact information obtained from QuoteFinder.ca.

3. What we mean by “spam”

For this policy, “spam” generally means unsolicited, excessive, deceptive, irrelevant, or abusive communications, especially commercial or promotional messages sent without appropriate consent or lawful basis.

Spam can include one message or repeated messages, depending on context, consent status, and message content.

4. Core anti-spam principles

Anyone using QuoteFinder.ca must follow these core principles:

  • send communications only for legitimate quote/service/platform purposes;
  • obtain consent where required by applicable law;
  • identify yourself accurately and not mislead recipients;
  • respect opt-outs, unsubscribe requests, and communication preferences;
  • avoid excessive frequency, pressure tactics, or repetitive outreach;
  • do not use Platform data for unauthorized marketing or list-building.

5. Who this policy applies to (by role)

5.1 Clients / consumers

Clients must not use QuoteFinder.ca messaging or contact information to harass, spam, threaten, or repeatedly contact providers for unrelated purposes.

5.2 Providers (agents, brokers, advisors, etc.)

Providers must only contact clients for legitimate quote-related follow-up and service communications connected to the client’s request and in compliance with applicable laws and platform rules.

5.3 Brokerages / team accounts

Brokerages and team admins are responsible for internal controls, training, and supervision to prevent spam or messaging abuse by team members using Team Accounts.

6. Consent requirements and lawful messaging

QuoteFinder.ca expects users to comply with applicable anti-spam, telecommunications, privacy, and consumer protection laws. Requirements vary by jurisdiction and message type.

Where required by law, users must obtain valid consent before sending commercial or promotional messages. In some cases, service-related communications may be permitted without separate marketing consent, depending on the context and applicable law.

For more detail about QuoteFinder.ca communication handling, see our Consent & Electronic Communications Policy.

Provider responsibility

Participating providers are independently responsible for their own compliance with anti-spam and telemarketing laws, including consent, message content, sender identification, and unsubscribe requirements.

7. Allowed communications (examples)

Examples of communications that are generally allowed (when done lawfully and respectfully) include:

  • quote request confirmations and status updates;
  • requests to clarify quote-request details;
  • quote responses and quote-related follow-up;
  • account verification and security messages;
  • billing receipts, payment notices, and subscription notices (providers/team accounts);
  • support responses and case follow-up;
  • time-sensitive service notifications related to active platform use.

8. Prohibited spam and messaging practices

QuoteFinder.ca prohibits communications that involve or attempt any of the following:

  • sending unsolicited mass messages or bulk outreach unrelated to a specific quote request;
  • repeated messaging after a user has opted out, unsubscribed, or asked not to be contacted;
  • deceptive subject lines, sender names, caller identity, or message content;
  • misleading claims, fake urgency, or bait-style messaging to force engagement;
  • harassment, intimidation, threats, abusive language, or discriminatory messages;
  • using purchased/scraped lists or data harvested from the Platform for off-platform marketing;
  • automated spam bots or scripts that abuse platform messaging features;
  • malware links, phishing attempts, or unsafe attachments;
  • sending promotional content under the disguise of support or quote communications;
  • circumventing platform contact masking, messaging controls, or communication restrictions.

9. Sender identification and message transparency

Where applicable, communications should clearly identify the sender (individual or business) and the purpose of the message.

Users and providers must not impersonate QuoteFinder.ca, another provider, a client, an insurer, or any other person/entity in communications.

If a message is promotional or marketing in nature, it should be clearly presented as such where required by law.

10. Unsubscribe, opt-out, and contact preferences

Users must honor unsubscribe requests, opt-out preferences, and communication restrictions where applicable and where supported by the relevant channel.

QuoteFinder.ca may provide platform-level communication settings or controls, but users and providers remain responsible for complying with applicable law when contacting others, including outside the Platform.

For QuoteFinder.ca platform communications, users can review our Consent & Electronic Communications Policy for preference and consent details.

11. Use of QuoteFinder.ca contact data

Contact information accessed through QuoteFinder.ca may only be used for legitimate purposes related to the quote request, service interaction, account administration, support, or other permitted platform uses.

You may not:

  • export or copy contact details for unrelated prospecting campaigns;
  • build or sell mailing lists using Platform data;
  • use client/provider contact information for unrelated affiliate, promotional, or solicitation campaigns;
  • share Platform-obtained contact lists with third parties without lawful basis and authorization.

Data-use reminder

Improper use of contact information may violate this Anti-Spam Policy, our Privacy Policy, provider/team terms, and applicable law.

12. Automated messaging and templates

If QuoteFinder.ca supports templates, automated alerts, or messaging tools, users must use them responsibly and in compliance with this policy.

Automation may not be used to:

  • send repetitive or irrelevant outreach at excessive frequency;
  • bypass consent requirements or opt-out requests;
  • simulate personal follow-up when the content is deceptive;
  • send spam to multiple recipients not connected to a valid platform workflow.

13. Monitoring, filtering, and abuse detection

QuoteFinder.ca may use automated filters, rate limits, delivery controls, logging, and trust & safety review processes to detect and reduce spam, phishing, abuse, and messaging-related policy violations.

We may limit message sending, delay delivery, review content, or block certain communications where risk indicators are detected.

Monitoring and enforcement are handled in accordance with our platform policies and applicable law.

  • the message content (or a screenshot);
  • sender name/email/phone (if visible);
  • date/time received;
  • where it happened (email, SMS, platform message, phone);
  • why you believe it is spam or abusive.

15. Enforcement and consequences

Using third-party tools does not remove your responsibility to follow this policy and applicable law.

For more information about data handling related to communications, see our Privacy Policy.

17. Recordkeeping and compliance support

QuoteFinder.ca may keep logs and records of messaging events, delivery attempts, opt-outs, settings changes, and abuse reports for operational, trust & safety, legal, and compliance purposes.

Providers and brokerages should maintain their own records where required by law or internal compliance policies.
