Consumer Protection / What QuoteFinder Is and Is Not
Clarifying QuoteFinder.ca’s role vs. broker/agent/insurer roles
Why this page exists
We want consumers to clearly understand what QuoteFinder.ca does and does not do. This helps reduce confusion, improves trust, and makes the quote process easier to use.
This page explains our platform role, the role of insurance professionals, and the role of insurers so you can make informed decisions.
What QuoteFinder.ca is
QuoteFinder.ca is a consumer-facing platform that may help you:
- submit a quote request for insurance products
- share request details with participating agents/brokers (based on platform rules and eligibility)
- receive and compare quote responses in one place
- review profile information and service details from participating professionals
- communicate through platform tools (where available)
- learn about the quote process and comparison factors
Our role
QuoteFinder.ca provides the marketplace technology, user interface, and workflow for quote requests and quote comparisons. We help connect consumers with participating professionals, but we do not act as the insurer issuing the policy.
What QuoteFinder.ca is not
QuoteFinder.ca is not:
- an insurance company (insurer)
- a policy underwriter
- a claims handler for your insurance policy
- a guarantee of the lowest price or best coverage
- a substitute for reading policy documents
- a guarantee that any quote request will receive responses
Unless explicitly stated otherwise in a separate disclosure, QuoteFinder.ca is also not your insurance broker or agent and does not provide individualized licensed insurance advice through the platform itself.
Who does what (consumer, platform, professional, insurer)
| Role | What they do | What they do not do |
|---|---|---|
| QuoteFinder.ca (platform) | Hosts the request/quote marketplace, routing workflows, and comparison experience | Does not underwrite, issue, or service insurance policies |
| Agent / Broker / Advisor (participating professional) | Reviews your request, may provide quotes/options, explains coverage, and may assist with application steps | Cannot guarantee final insurer approval or final policy terms before underwriting |
| Insurer (insurance company) | Underwrites risk, sets final eligibility and pricing, issues the policy, and handles claims per policy terms | Does not operate QuoteFinder.ca (unless specifically disclosed on a co-branded page) |
| Consumer (you) | Provides accurate information, compares options, asks questions, and chooses whether to proceed | Should not rely on incomplete or outdated details when making a final decision |
Quotes shown on the platform are not always final offers
Many quote responses are estimates or preliminary quotes based on the information available at the time. Final pricing, eligibility, and coverage terms may change after:
- additional underwriting review
- document verification
- driver/claims history checks
- property details confirmation
- carrier-specific rules and underwriting guidelines
Always review the final quote, application, and policy documents before purchasing coverage.
Important
A quote request submission on QuoteFinder.ca does not create insurance coverage. Coverage begins only when an insurer (or authorized representative) confirms issuance and all required conditions are met.
QuoteFinder.ca does not choose for you
QuoteFinder.ca is designed to support comparison and informed choice. We do not force you to select a quote, and submitting a quote request does not require you to buy a policy from any participating professional.
- You can compare responses and ask follow-up questions (where platform tools allow).
- You can choose not to proceed with any quote.
- You can seek quotes elsewhere and compare independently.
No guarantee of lowest price, savings amount, or acceptance
We do not guarantee:
- the lowest premium
- a specific savings amount
- approval for coverage
- a minimum number of quote responses
- that every participating professional can serve every request
Insurance prices and eligibility vary based on your profile, location, underwriting rules, coverage choices, and market conditions.
How participating professionals are responsible for their quotes and advice
Participating agents/brokers/advisors are responsible for the content of their quotes, representations, and communications, subject to applicable law and licensing requirements.
Consumers should ask questions and confirm:
- what coverage is included (and excluded)
- deductibles and limits
- payment terms and fees (if any)
- quote validity period
- the insurer offering the policy
- whether the quote is estimated or fully underwritten
Licensing and verification
Where applicable, insurance professionals may be required to maintain valid licensing and meet platform requirements to participate. Platform checks may help improve marketplace quality, but they do not replace your own due diligence.
You should verify licensing status and business details directly with the appropriate regulator or licensing body when making an important purchase decision.
Compensation and platform economics
QuoteFinder.ca may receive revenue from marketplace participation, subscription fees, lead/quote access fees, advertising, referral arrangements, or other business models permitted by law and disclosed in our policies/terms.
These commercial relationships help operate the platform, but they do not eliminate your responsibility to compare coverage details carefully and choose what fits your needs.
Transparency goal
Our goal is to make the quote process easier to understand and compare — not to pressure you into a purchase. You remain in control of whether, when, and how you proceed.
