Use this page when you see a term in the Help Center, support messages, or policy pages that is unclear. Definitions here are written for clarity and practical understanding, not legal interpretation.

A
- Abuse report
- A support report used to flag spam, harassment, impersonation, suspicious behavior, or other misuse of the platform.
- Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
- A policy that explains what users are allowed and not allowed to do on the platform (for example, no spam, scraping, impersonation, or abuse).
- Account access issue
- A support label used when someone cannot log in, cannot open the dashboard, or has other account access problems.
- Account restriction
- A limit placed on an account or feature (temporary or ongoing), often due to verification, policy, billing, or security reasons.
- Agent
- A provider user (or team member acting in that role) who reviews quote requests and may submit quotes/bids to clients.
- Appeal
- A request for review when a user believes a warning, restriction, suspension, or decision should be reconsidered.
- Assignment (quote assignment)
- An internal team workflow step where a quote request is assigned to a specific agent or staff member to handle.
B
- Bid
- A provider response to a client’s quote request. In many contexts on QuoteFinder.ca, “bid” and “quote” are used similarly in the marketplace workflow.
- Billing hold
- A temporary billing-related limitation (for example, due to payment issues, disputes, or account review) that may affect purchases or credit use.
- Brokerage
- An organization/team account that may include multiple agents or staff members managed by one or more team admins.
- Brokerage / Team Admin
- A user with elevated permissions to manage team setup, invites, roles, routing settings, and sometimes billing/credits.
C
- Category (service category)
- A type of service or product offered on the platform (for example, a specific insurance or service line). Categories affect eligibility and routing.
- Chargeback
- A payment dispute initiated through a payment card issuer or bank. Chargebacks may affect billing access or account features while under review.
- Client
- A user who submits a quote request to receive responses from providers.
- Client selection
- The step where a client reviews available bids/quotes and chooses a provider (if they want to proceed).
- Compliance
- Following applicable laws, regulations, and platform policies, including data handling, anti-spam, and verification requirements.
- Contact / Support
- The support channel/page used to report problems, request help, or submit abuse/security/policy questions.
- Credits
- A provider-side participation unit used in certain marketplace workflows (for example, some quote/bid-related actions). Exact rules are defined by the Refund / Credits Policy and platform settings.
D
- Dashboard
- The account area where users manage requests, quotes, profiles, settings, billing, team access, or status (depending on role).
- Data sharing (provider use of client data)
- How provider users may use client information received through the platform. This is limited by platform rules, applicable law, and client consent/preferences.
- Dispute (billing dispute)
- A billing or payment disagreement that may trigger account review, support review, or payment processor investigation.
- Document submission
- Uploading requested files for verification (for example, identity, business, or licensing-related review).
E
- Eligibility
- Whether an account is allowed to view or act on a specific quote request based on factors like category, region, verification, billing status, and platform rules.
- Enforcement (Trust & Safety enforcement)
- Actions the platform may take when rules are broken, such as warnings, restrictions, suspension, or removal.
- Expired / Expiry
- A status showing that a quote request, document, invite, or time-limited action is no longer active because the time window ended.
F
- Feature restriction
- A limit on a specific function (for example, messaging, bidding, billing, or profile editing) rather than a full account suspension.
- First-line label (support label)
- A short phrase placed at the beginning of a support message (for example, “Billing / credits issue” or “Security Report”) to help route the request faster.
- Fraud
- Deceptive behavior intended to gain money, access, or information dishonestly. Suspected fraud should be reported to support.
G
- Good-faith report
- An honest report made to raise a real concern (for example, spam, abuse, or suspicious behavior), even if the reporter is not certain about every detail.
- Guide (help guide)
- A plain-English support page designed to explain workflows or policies. Guides help users understand the platform but do not replace legal terms.
H
- Hold
- A temporary pause or limit on certain actions (for example, billing, credits, or account features) while an issue is reviewed.
- Help Center
- The collection of support pages, FAQs, and guides for clients, agents, brokerages, team members, billing, verification, and reporting.
I
- Identity verification
- A process used to confirm that a user is who they say they are, often as part of provider or team/account trust checks.
- Impersonation
- Pretending to be another person, business, team, or the platform itself. This is a serious trust and safety issue and should be reported.
- In review / Pending review
- A status meaning a submission, report, or request has been received and is currently being checked.
- Invite (team invite)
- An invitation sent by a team admin to add a staff member or agent to a brokerage/team account.
J
- Jurisdiction
- The legal or regulatory area that applies to a service or provider (for example, a province or state). Jurisdiction can affect licensing and eligibility.
K
- Know-your-customer / KYC (general term)
- A common industry term for identity verification and due diligence checks. If used on platform pages, it generally refers to verifying account identity/business details where needed.
L
- Licensing / registration verification
- A review step used (where applicable) to confirm provider licensing or registration details in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Login alert
- A notice about account access or login activity. Unexpected alerts may be a sign of unauthorized access or phishing risk.
M
- Marketplace
- The QuoteFinder.ca environment where clients submit requests and providers respond with quotes/bids under platform rules.
- Marketplace rules
- The practical and policy-based rules that guide fair behavior in the marketplace (for example, no spam, no misleading claims, no abuse).
- Member (team member)
- A staff user inside a brokerage/team account. Permissions vary depending on role and team admin settings.
- Messaging (platform messaging)
- Communication between clients and providers (or related users) within allowed platform workflows and subject to messaging rules.
- Moderation
- Review of content, messages, reports, or activity for policy compliance, trust & safety, or abuse prevention.

- Needs action
- A status meaning something is missing or requires correction (for example, a verification document, profile detail, or support follow-up response).
- Notice (dashboard notice)
- A message shown in the account/dashboard area about billing, verification, restrictions, policy reminders, or required actions.
O
- Open for quotes / Accepting quotes
- A status indicating a quote request is active and may still receive provider responses, subject to platform rules and eligibility.
- Opt-out
- A request by a user (often a client) to stop certain communications or contact. Providers and teams must respect applicable preferences and platform rules.
- Organization account
- A brokerage/team account used by a business or team rather than a single independent user.
P
- Pending
- A general status meaning something is waiting (for example, review, approval, response, or completion).
- Permissions
- The actions a user is allowed to perform in the platform (for example, viewing requests, messaging, submitting bids, billing access, or admin controls).
- Phishing
- A scam attempt (often by email or message) designed to trick users into revealing passwords, codes, or other sensitive information.
- Policy violation
- Behavior or content that breaks platform rules, terms, or policies.
- Privacy request
- A support label used for questions or requests related to privacy and data handling.
- Profile
- A user or organization’s platform details (for example, name, role, service areas, categories, and other account information).
- Provider
- A person or business (for example, agent, brokerage, advisor, or team) that responds to client quote requests.
Q
- Quote
- A provider response to a client’s request. In many platform workflows, “quote” may be preliminary and based on the information available at that time.
- Quote request
- A request submitted by a client describing what they need so eligible providers can respond.
- Quote assignment workflow
- The internal process a team uses to decide which staff member or agent handles a specific quote request.
R
- Redaction
- Hiding or removing sensitive details (for example, contact information) from messages or content, often to support safety or workflow rules.
- Re-verification
- A repeat verification request after expiry, account changes, risk review, or other reasons. Being verified once does not always mean verification is permanent.
- Report agent
- A support report label used to flag concerns about an individual provider/agent.
- Report brokerage
- A support report label used to flag concerns about a brokerage/team account.
- Restricted pending verification
- A status meaning some features may be limited until requested verification steps are completed and reviewed.
- Routing
- How quote requests become visible or available to eligible providers based on categories, service areas, account status, and platform rules.
S
- Safety / Trust & Safety
- The platform function focused on preventing abuse, fraud, impersonation, harassment, and other misuse while supporting marketplace trust.
- Security Report
- A high-priority support label used to report suspected account compromise, phishing, suspicious login activity, or other security concerns.
- Service area
- The geographic region where a provider or team says they can serve clients. Service area settings affect eligibility and routing.
- Spam
- Unwanted, repetitive, irrelevant, or promotional messaging that violates platform rules or user communication preferences.
- Status
- A label showing the current state of a request, account action, or review (for example, open, pending, needs action, verified, expired).
- Suspension
- A stronger enforcement action that limits or disables account access/features for policy, security, or compliance reasons (temporary or longer-term depending on the case).
- Support ticket / support request
- A message sent to QuoteFinder.ca support asking for help, reporting a problem, or submitting a review request.
T
- Team account
- An organization/brokerage account used by multiple users with different roles and permissions.
- Team admin
- A user who manages invites, roles, permissions, and often routing or billing controls for a brokerage/team account.
- Team member / staff

- Terms (Terms of Service / Provider Terms / Team Terms)
- The legal agreements that govern use of QuoteFinder.ca for different user types (clients, providers, brokerages/teams).
- Trust & Safety Enforcement
- The process of reviewing reports and applying warnings, restrictions, suspensions, or other actions when platform rules are violated.
U
- Unauthorized access
- Account access by someone who should not have access (for example, a compromised login or former staff member still using an account).
- Under review
- Another way of saying a request, report, document submission, or account issue is currently being checked.
V
- Verification
- A process used to confirm identity, business details, licensing, or authority for certain accounts and roles.
- Verification status
- A status label showing whether verification is complete, pending, needs action, or restricting features until completed.
W
- Warning (policy warning)
- A notice that an account behavior may have violated platform rules. Repeated or serious issues can lead to stronger enforcement.
- Workflow
- The step-by-step process used in the platform (for example, submitting a quote request, assigning it internally, messaging, and client selection).
X
- X (not commonly used term)
- No common QuoteFinder.ca support term currently starts with X. If you see one in a page or message, contact support for clarification.
Y
- Your team admin
- The person in your brokerage/team who manages your role, access, and permissions. Team members should usually ask this person first for invite/seat/permission questions.
Z
- Zero-tolerance behavior (plain-English usage)
- Serious conduct that may trigger immediate or strong enforcement action (for example, severe abuse, fraud, impersonation, or security-related misuse), depending on platform rules and review.
