Marketplace Rules / Code of Conduct

This page sets out the core rules and conduct standards for using QuoteFinder.ca. These rules apply to consumers, agents, brokers, and (where applicable) brokerage/team accounts and their members. They are designed to support a safer, fairer, and more transparent marketplace experience.

Quick summary: Use QuoteFinder.ca honestly, communicate respectfully, protect personal information, follow platform workflows, and do not engage in spam, impersonation, harassment, manipulation, or misuse of quote requests. QuoteFinder.ca may warn, restrict, suspend, or remove accounts that violate these rules.

Why these rules exist

QuoteFinder.ca is a marketplace platform, not an insurer. The platform works best when users can trust that quote requests, provider responses, profiles, ratings, and communications reflect genuine marketplace activity. These rules are intended to reduce abuse, improve safety, and maintain a consistent standard for all participants.

Who these rules apply to

  • Consumers submitting quote requests or using consumer dashboard/messaging features
  • Agents and brokers responding to quote opportunities through the platform
  • Brokerage/team accounts and their owners/admins/managers/members
  • Any user creating an account, viewing provider profiles, or interacting through platform tools

Core marketplace principles

What QuoteFinder.ca expects from all users

  • Honesty: provide accurate information and do not impersonate others.
  • Respect: communicate professionally and avoid abuse or harassment.
  • Privacy awareness: handle personal information carefully and use platform tools responsibly.
  • Fair dealing: do not manipulate quotes, reviews, badges, or platform metrics.
  • Rule compliance: follow platform workflows, policies, and applicable legal obligations.

General rules for all users

1) Use accurate and truthful information

You must not provide false, misleading, or impersonated identity information, account details, business details, or request/response content. Profile information and quote request details should be accurate to the best of your knowledge.

2) Use the platform only for legitimate marketplace activity

You may use QuoteFinder.ca only for legitimate quote-related activity, account management, and support functions. You must not use the platform for unrelated solicitation, scraping, spam campaigns, harassment, or deceptive marketing.

3) Follow platform workflows and controls

Where QuoteFinder.ca provides marketplace workflows (such as request submission, response submission, messaging, masking/redaction, routing, or billing tools), users must follow those workflows and must not attempt to bypass platform controls in a way that undermines safety, trust, or fairness.

4) Protect account security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and devices. Do not share passwords. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact QuoteFinder.ca promptly through Contact Us.

Consumer rules (quote request users)

Provide accurate request information

Consumers should provide truthful and reasonably accurate information when submitting a quote request. Inaccurate or intentionally misleading information can reduce quote quality and may lead to restricted platform access.

Use the platform respectfully

Consumers must communicate respectfully with providers and support staff. Harassment, threats, abusive language, or discriminatory conduct are not permitted.

Do not misuse provider information

Provider profiles, responses, and marketplace information may only be used for legitimate quote comparison and related decision-making. Consumers must not harvest, scrape, or republish provider information for unrelated marketing or spam purposes.

Do not submit spam or fake quote requests

Consumers must not create fake requests, repeated duplicate requests intended to disrupt providers, or requests submitted primarily for harassment, testing abuse, or non-genuine purposes.

Review and rating integrity

If reviews/ratings are enabled, consumers should only submit feedback based on their own platform-related experience. Reviews must be honest, relevant, and follow the Reviews & Ratings Methodology.

Agent / broker rules (provider accounts)

Provide accurate profile and business information

Providers must keep profile details, service areas, categories, and other required account information accurate and current. Providers must not misrepresent identity, affiliation, qualifications, or verification status.

Respond honestly and clearly

Provider responses should be clear, professional, and based on legitimate marketplace participation. Providers must not submit deceptive responses, false claims, or content intended to mislead consumers about availability, pricing, or next steps.

Respect communication rules and privacy controls

Where platform messaging and privacy controls exist, providers must use them responsibly. Providers must not attempt to bypass masking/redaction or misuse personal information received through the platform.

No harassment, pressure, or abusive conduct

Providers must not pressure, harass, threaten, or intimidate consumers. This includes repeated unwanted contact, abusive language, retaliation for reviews, or aggressive behavior that violates platform standards.

No spam or irrelevant solicitation

Providers must not use QuoteFinder.ca to send irrelevant promotions, bulk messages, or unrelated offers. Responses and messages should be directly related to the consumer’s request and the platform workflow.

Do not manipulate reviews, ratings, badges, or metrics

Providers must not attempt to create fake reviews, suppress legitimate reviews, impersonate users, or manipulate platform trust signals or response metrics.

Do not misuse competitor information

Providers must not use the platform to collect competitor information for harassment, copying, sabotage, or off-platform misuse.

Brokerage / team account rules (where applicable)

Brokerage/team accounts must follow all provider rules above, plus organization-level account governance responsibilities.

Admin responsibility and member oversight

Brokerage/team owners and admins are responsible for managing access, assigning roles appropriately, and helping ensure members follow platform rules. Organizations should remove access promptly when roles change.

No shared credentials

Brokerages/teams should not use shared passwords or generic access that prevents accountability. Role-based access should be used where available.

Responsible routing and assignment

Where routing/assignment tools are available, brokerages/teams must use them responsibly and must not create deceptive internal practices that misrepresent who is responding or how the organization is handling requests.

Accurate organizational representation

Brokerages/teams must not present a team verification badge as an individual badge for every member and must not misstate the meaning of verification, ratings, or platform status.
