How QuoteFinder.ca collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information
1. Scope of this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how QuoteFinder.ca (“QuoteFinder.ca”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, stores, and protects personal information when you use our websites, marketplace tools, quote request forms, provider dashboards, messaging features, and related services (collectively, the “Platform”).
This Privacy Policy applies to:
- clients/consumers who submit quote requests or use quote-comparison features;
- agents, brokers, advisors, agencies, and other providers using the Platform;
- brokerages and team account administrators/members;

This Privacy Policy does not govern the independent privacy practices of insurers, agents, brokers, advisors, or other third parties after you engage with them directly. Those parties may have their own privacy policies and legal obligations.
2. What QuoteFinder.ca is (privacy context)
QuoteFinder.ca is a marketplace and technology platform that helps consumers request and compare insurance quotes and helps participating providers receive and respond to quote requests.
QuoteFinder.ca is not an insurer and does not underwrite insurance policies. Participating providers and insurers may collect and use your information for their own quoting, underwriting, advisory, servicing, compliance, and recordkeeping purposes under their own privacy practices.
Important privacy distinction

5. Consent and legal grounds for processing
We collect, use, and disclose personal information with your consent or as otherwise permitted or required by applicable law.
Depending on the situation, your consent may be express (for example, when you submit a quote request, provide information in a form, or opt in to communications) or implied where permitted by law and reasonably related to the purpose of the interaction.
In some cases, we may process information without consent where permitted or required by law (for example, for fraud prevention, security, legal compliance, debt collection, or responding to lawful requests).
You may withdraw consent in some circumstances, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawing consent may limit our ability to provide some Platform features or quote-related services.
6. How quote request information is shared
When a client submits a quote request, QuoteFinder.ca may share request information (including personal information) with eligible participating providers so they can review the request, determine fit, and provide quote responses or quote-related follow-up, subject to platform design and applicable law.
Information shared may vary depending on:
- the insurance category or request type;
- platform workflows (for example, masked vs. unmasked contact details);
- provider eligibility and routing rules;
- client actions, preferences, or consent choices;
- trust & safety and fraud controls.
Important
Participating providers and insurers may use information you share (or that is shared with them through the Platform) under their own privacy policies and legal obligations. Please review their disclosures before proceeding with a quote or policy application.
7. Other disclosures of personal information
We may disclose personal information in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: hosting, infrastructure, analytics, security, customer support, email/SMS delivery, payment processing, and technical vendors that help us operate the Platform.
- Professional advisors: legal, accounting, audit, insurance, and compliance advisors, as reasonably necessary.
- Business transactions: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, sale of assets, or similar transaction, subject to appropriate protections.
- Legal and safety reasons: to comply with applicable law, court orders, lawful requests, regulatory obligations, or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Platform.
- Enforcement and fraud prevention: to investigate and address fraud, abuse, spam, chargebacks, or violations of platform rules.
- With your direction or consent: where you ask us to share information or authorize a specific disclosure.
We do not sell personal information in the ordinary sense of selling customer lists for unrelated third-party marketing. We may disclose information to service providers and participating providers as described in this Policy to operate the Platform and quote marketplace.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies (such as pixels, local storage, and device identifiers) to operate the Platform, remember preferences, maintain sessions, measure traffic, detect fraud, and improve performance.
These technologies may be used for purposes such as:
- sign-in/session management and security;
- user preferences and site functionality;
- analytics and usage measurement;
- diagnostics and error monitoring;
- marketing and advertising measurement (where enabled and permitted).
You can manage cookies through your browser settings and, where available, our site consent or preferences tools. Disabling some cookies may affect Platform functionality.
9. Communications, notifications, and marketing
We may send service-related communications needed to operate the Platform, including account verification, security alerts, quote request updates, provider activity notices, billing notices, and support responses.
Where permitted by law and based on your preferences, we may also send marketing or promotional communications. You can opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link included in those messages. Some service and transaction-related messages are not optional while you continue using relevant features.
Participating providers may also contact you in connection with your quote request, subject to applicable law, your consent, and platform rules.
10. Payments and billing information
If you are a provider, brokerage, or team account user who purchases credits, subscriptions, or other paid features, payment processing may be handled by third-party payment processors. We may receive transaction confirmations, billing metadata, and payment status information, but we may not store full payment card details on our own systems (depending on processor integration design).
Please review the payment processor’s privacy practices where applicable.
11. Data retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, or as required/permitted by law, including for:
- operating the Platform and maintaining account history;
- quote request processing and provider/client interactions;
- support, dispute handling, and trust & safety reviews;
- fraud prevention, audit, and security investigations;
- billing, accounting, tax, and legal compliance obligations.
Retention periods vary depending on the type of data, the sensitivity of the information, platform features used, and legal requirements. We may delete, anonymize, or de-identify information when it is no longer needed.
12. Security safeguards
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, disclosure, loss, or theft. These safeguards may include access controls, authentication measures, encryption in transit where appropriate, logging, monitoring, and security reviews.
No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
You are also responsible for protecting your credentials, access links, devices, and account access.
13. Cross-border storage and processing
QuoteFinder.ca and our service providers may store or process personal information in Canada, the United States, or other jurisdictions depending on our infrastructure and vendors.
When personal information is processed outside your province/territory or country, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction, including lawful access by courts, regulators, or government authorities as permitted by law.
We take reasonable steps to use service providers and arrangements that support appropriate privacy and security protections.

If you are a client and your request concerns information held by a participating provider or insurer, you may also need to contact that provider or insurer directly.
15. Team accounts and organizational admin access
If you use QuoteFinder.ca through a brokerage or team account, organization administrators may have access to certain account, billing, activity, and workflow information associated with members of that team account, depending on platform features and permissions.
If you are a team member, your organization may control your seat, access permissions, and some account settings as described in the Terms for Brokerages / Team Accounts.
16. Children and minors
The Platform is intended for users who are at least the age of majority in their province or territory (or otherwise legally capable of using the services). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children where prohibited by law.
If you believe personal information from a child was provided to us improperly, contact us so we can review and take appropriate steps.
17. Third-party websites and services
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites, tools, or services (including provider websites, insurer pages, payment processors, and external resources). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties.
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party site or service before sharing personal information.
18. Automated tools, matching, and fraud screening
QuoteFinder.ca may use automated rules, scoring, filters, or system logic to support marketplace routing, eligibility checks, fraud prevention, abuse detection, and platform operations (for example, matching requests to providers, detecting suspicious activity, or enforcing workflow limits).
QuoteFinder.ca does not underwrite insurance policies or make insurer coverage decisions. Final insurance underwriting and policy issuance decisions are made by insurers and/or authorized providers, not by the Platform.
19. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, platform features, legal requirements, or operational needs.
When we update this Policy, we will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Platform after the updated Policy takes effect means you acknowledge the updated Policy, subject to any additional notice or consent required by law.
