How We Make Money
QuoteFinder.ca is a marketplace platform. This page explains how we may earn revenue, how provider fees and credits work, and how we aim to separate marketplace monetization from fairness, transparency, and user trust.
Quick summary: QuoteFinder.ca may earn revenue from participating agents, brokers, and brokerage/team accounts through credits, subscriptions, platform fees, and related marketplace tools. We are not paid to rank quotes unfairly, and we do not present paid access as an independent editorial recommendation.
Why this page exists
We believe users should understand how the platform is funded. Clear disclosures help consumers make informed decisions and help providers understand the rules of participation.
QuoteFinder.ca is designed to operate as a governed marketplace, not a hidden lead resale funnel. That means we publish information about fees, platform rules, and how marketplace visibility may work.
What QuoteFinder.ca is (and is not)
Important platform role
- QuoteFinder.ca is a marketplace platform.
- QuoteFinder.ca is not an insurer and does not underwrite policies.
- QuoteFinder.ca does not issue insurance policies unless explicitly stated on a specific page.
- QuoteFinder.ca does not guarantee the lowest price, quote volume, or business outcomes.
How QuoteFinder.ca may earn revenue
QuoteFinder.ca may earn revenue from one or more of the following sources, depending on the features used by providers and the account type (individual agent/broker or brokerage/team account):
- Credits: Providers may use credits to access quote opportunities or marketplace actions.
- Subscriptions or plans: Providers or teams may pay recurring fees for access to platform features, seats, or tools.
- Platform fees: Fees for marketplace participation, verification workflows, profile upgrades, or operational tools (where offered).
- Optional paid tools/features: Additional workflow, reporting, or team-management features (where offered).
- Advertising or sponsorships: If used, they should be clearly labeled and not presented as neutral recommendations.
Revenue sources may change as the platform evolves. If we introduce a new monetization model that affects user decisions, provider visibility, or quote workflows, we aim to update this page and related policy pages.
How credits work (general overview)
Credits are a marketplace payment mechanism that participating providers may use to access quote opportunities and/or platform actions. Credit usage rules can vary by feature, product category, and account type.
Credits are a platform access/payment tool
Credits are not a guarantee of client selection, policy sale, conversion, or revenue. They are a way to pay for access to certain marketplace opportunities or features under platform rules.
What credits may be used for
- Accessing or unlocking quote opportunities
- Submitting or participating in certain marketplace workflows
- Team/brokerage usage under organization billing rules
- Other marketplace actions clearly described in the product interface or provider terms
How credit pricing may vary
Credit requirements may differ based on category, workflow, feature, or plan. Where credits are required, the platform should make the applicable cost or usage rule visible in the product interface or billing terms before the provider completes the action.
Subscriptions, plans, and brokerage/team fees
QuoteFinder.ca may offer subscription plans or recurring billing for provider accounts, including brokerage/team accounts. These plans may include access to organization-level tools such as member management, role permissions, routing workflows, reporting, billing controls, or other operational features.
If a provider account is billed on a recurring basis, the applicable terms, billing cycle, and cancellation/refund rules should be set out in the relevant provider/team terms and billing policy pages.
What consumers pay (if anything)
Consumers are generally able to browse QuoteFinder.ca and submit quote requests without paying a platform fee, unless a specific feature or service clearly states otherwise.
If any consumer-facing paid feature is introduced, we aim to disclose the cost, what is included, and whether it affects quote request handling or marketplace access.
Fairness, rankings, and paid influence
QuoteFinder.ca may display provider information such as profile details, verification badges, response-time indicators, ratings, or other marketplace signals to help consumers compare options.
Ranking fairness and paid placement
QuoteFinder.ca is not paid to rank quotes unfairly. We do not sell hidden “best quote” placement or present paid placement as an independent editorial recommendation.
Payment for credits, subscriptions, or platform tools does not mean a provider will be shown as the best choice for every consumer. Where payment affects access to marketplace tools or eligibility for certain features, we aim to disclose that clearly.
If the platform uses visibility, ordering, or eligibility factors (such as category match, location coverage, account standing, response quality, profile completeness, or disclosed feature access), we aim to describe those factors in plain English.
See How Ranking Works for more detail.
Verification badges and paid fees
QuoteFinder.ca may offer verification-related workflows for agents and brokerages/teams. A verification badge (where shown) is intended to communicate that certain information or documents have been reviewed under platform criteria.
Verification status does not guarantee service quality, pricing, policy approval, or future outcomes. If a fee is associated with a verification process or related platform workflow, that fee does not convert the badge into a guarantee or an editorial endorsement.
Reviews, ratings, and monetization separation
QuoteFinder.ca aims to keep reviews/ratings moderation and quality standards separate from provider payments. Provider fees, credits, or subscriptions should not be used to buy fake reviews, suppress legitimate complaints, or remove accurate user feedback outside published moderation rules.
For more information, see Reviews & Ratings Methodology and Content & Review Moderation Policy.
Refunds, billing questions, and disputes
Billing rules, refund eligibility, credit usage disputes, and chargeback handling are governed by the applicable provider/team terms and billing policies. Providers should review these documents before using paid marketplace features.
For billing and refund details, see Refund / Credits Policy. For complaints or disputes, see Complaints & Dispute Resolution.
How this supports a better marketplace
Clear revenue disclosures help users and providers understand how QuoteFinder.ca operates. We believe transparency, published rules, and clear policy pages are part of building a trustworthy marketplace experience.
We encourage consumers to review how the platform works, how rankings and badges are described, and how provider responses are compared before choosing who to proceed with.
