Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)

Rules for using QuoteFinder.ca safely, lawfully, and fairly

Quick summary: QuoteFinder.ca is a quote marketplace and platform for consumers, providers, brokerages, and team accounts. You may use it only for legitimate quote, service, and account purposes. We do not allow platform abuse, scraping, spam, impersonation, fraud, security interference, or unauthorized off-platform solicitation using platform data. Violations may result in warnings, restrictions, suspension, or account removal.

1. Purpose of this AUP

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) explains what users may and may not do when using QuoteFinder.ca (“QuoteFinder.ca”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) and any related websites, dashboards, forms, messaging tools, team account features, APIs (if offered), and marketplace functionality (collectively, the “Platform”).

This AUP helps protect users, providers, brokerages, and the integrity, reliability, and security of the Platform.

2. Who this policy applies to

This AUP applies to all users of QuoteFinder.ca, including:

  • clients/consumers submitting quote requests;
  • providers (agents, brokers, advisors, agencies, and other service providers);
  • brokerages and team account admins/members;
  • site visitors and anyone using platform tools or data;
  • any person acting on behalf of another user or organization.

3. General use standard

You must use QuoteFinder.ca only for lawful, authorized, and legitimate purposes connected to the Platform. You must not use the Platform in a way that harms users, disrupts systems, misuses data, or undermines trust in the marketplace.

Simple rule

Use QuoteFinder.ca the way a real client, provider, or team member would use a marketplace — not as a tool for scraping, spamming, manipulation, or bypassing platform safeguards.

4. Permitted uses (examples)

Examples of uses that are generally permitted (when done lawfully and in compliance with other platform policies) include:

  • submitting legitimate quote requests for real needs;
  • reviewing and responding to quote requests as an eligible provider;
  • managing provider or brokerage/team account profiles and settings;
  • using platform messaging and notifications for quote/service-related communications;
  • managing billing, credits, subscriptions, and account administration features;
  • contacting support and reporting fraud, abuse, or technical issues.

5. Prohibited conduct (general)

You must not use the Platform to do (or attempt to do) any of the following:

  • violate any applicable law, regulation, or legal obligation;
  • violate QuoteFinder.ca terms, policies, marketplace rules, or trust & safety requirements;
  • mislead, defraud, harass, abuse, or exploit users or the platform;
  • interfere with platform security, availability, or normal operation;
  • collect, use, or disclose platform data in unauthorized ways.

6. Platform abuse and manipulation

QuoteFinder.ca prohibits platform abuse, including attempts to manipulate marketplace outcomes, visibility, or workflows. Prohibited behavior includes (without limitation):

  • creating fake quote requests, fake provider accounts, or fake identities;
  • submitting false, misleading, or test/filler data in production workflows without authorization;
  • attempting to game lead routing, provider ranking, invitation logic, or selection outcomes;
  • using multiple accounts to evade limits, fees, restrictions, or enforcement;
  • circumventing provider eligibility rules, geographic rules, or caps;
  • abusing trials, promotions, credits, referral systems, or goodwill adjustments.

7. Scraping, data harvesting, and automated extraction

You may not scrape, crawl, harvest, extract, copy, mirror, or index data from QuoteFinder.ca using bots, scripts, automation tools, browser automation, headless tools, AI agents, or other means, except where QuoteFinder.ca has expressly authorized it in writing.

Prohibited scraping/data extraction includes:

  • collecting provider listings, profile data, quote request data, reviews, or contact details at scale;
  • screen scraping dashboards, marketplace pages, or private account views;
  • bulk exporting data not made available through an authorized platform feature;
  • using the Platform to build competing databases, lead lists, or training datasets without authorization;
  • automated monitoring designed to bypass rate limits, access controls, or anti-bot protections.

Important

Accessing data manually through a browser does not make bulk copying or harvesting permitted. If a feature is not offered for export/access, assume it is not authorized unless QuoteFinder.ca says otherwise in writing.

8. Spam, messaging abuse, and solicitation misuse

You must not use QuoteFinder.ca or contact information obtained from QuoteFinder.ca for spam, mass unsolicited outreach, harassment, or deceptive messaging.

Prohibited messaging conduct includes:

  • sending repetitive or excessive messages unrelated to a quote request or service interaction;
  • using platform messaging or exported contact details for unrelated marketing campaigns;
  • sending deceptive or misleading messages, subject lines, or caller identification;
  • ignoring opt-out, unsubscribe, or “do not contact” requests where applicable;
  • using bots or automation to send spam or abusive outreach.

For additional communication rules, see our Anti-Spam Policy and Consent & Electronic Communications Policy.

9. Impersonation, false identity, and misleading representations

You may not impersonate or falsely represent yourself as:

  • another user, provider, client, brokerage, or team member;
  • QuoteFinder.ca or a QuoteFinder.ca representative;
  • an insurer, regulator, or any entity you are not authorized to represent.

You also may not:

  • use false names, fake credentials, or fake business details to gain access;
  • misrepresent licensing, authority, service area, or qualifications;
  • mislead users about platform rules, payment obligations, or quote status.

10. Off-platform solicitation and bypassing platform rules

QuoteFinder.ca may allow provider-client communications depending on workflow design, but you may not use the Platform to improperly bypass platform controls, masking, fees, or marketplace rules.

Prohibited conduct includes (unless expressly allowed by the Platform):

  • using platform access primarily to capture contact details for unrelated off-platform sales campaigns;
  • attempting to move users off-platform in violation of masking, messaging, or workflow restrictions;
  • circumventing paid access, credits, unlocks, or routing rules through backchannel solicitation;
  • coaching users to re-submit requests outside the Platform to avoid marketplace rules or charges;
  • sharing hidden/masked contact information obtained through technical workarounds.

Nothing in this section prevents lawful communications that are permitted by the platform workflow, user consent, or applicable terms.

Marketplace integrity

QuoteFinder.ca may limit or restrict conduct that undermines fair routing, fair competition, or trust in the quote process — even if the conduct is not explicitly listed here.

11. Security interference and technical abuse

You must not interfere with or attempt to interfere with the security, stability, or availability of the Platform. Prohibited conduct includes:

  • probing, scanning, or testing vulnerabilities without written authorization;
  • attempting to bypass authentication, access controls, or permission systems;
  • credential stuffing, brute force attacks, or password guessing;
  • introducing malware, ransomware, spyware, malicious scripts, or harmful code;
  • denial-of-service (DoS) attacks or traffic flooding;
  • tampering with forms, requests, responses, or client-side code to gain unauthorized functionality;
  • attempting to decrypt, intercept, or hijack sessions or secure links.

12. Reverse engineering and unauthorized technical access

Except where prohibited by law, you may not:

  • reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble platform software or code;
  • access or attempt to access non-public endpoints, admin areas, or internal systems;
  • use undocumented APIs or automation to perform unauthorized actions;
  • copy or recreate platform workflows, structures, or data models for competitive use using unauthorized extraction methods.

13. Harmful, illegal, or abusive content and activity

You may not use the Platform to submit, transmit, or display unlawful, harmful, or abusive content, including content involving fraud, threats, harassment, hate, malicious links, privacy violations, or illegal activity.

Content and communication rules are also addressed in our Content & Review Moderation Policy and related Trust & Safety policies.

14. Data misuse and privacy violations

You may only access and use information obtained through QuoteFinder.ca for legitimate and authorized platform-related purposes.

You must not:

  • sell, rent, share, or repurpose platform data for unauthorized list-building or lead resale;
  • collect excessive personal information not needed for the requested service;
  • disclose personal information in ways that violate platform rules or applicable law;
  • retain or reuse data beyond what is permitted by law and platform terms.

For more details, see our Privacy Policy.

15. Interference with other users and marketplace fairness

You must not interfere with other users’ ability to use the Platform or compete fairly in the marketplace. Prohibited conduct includes:

  • harassing or intimidating clients, providers, or team members;
  • attempting to sabotage another provider’s profile, account, or reputation;
  • fake complaints, false reports, or abuse of reporting tools;
  • collusion or manipulation intended to distort marketplace outcomes;
  • abusive review behavior or coordinated review manipulation.

16. Testing, research, and security disclosures

If you believe you found a security issue or vulnerability, do not exploit it, share it publicly, or use it to access data. Report it to QuoteFinder.ca through support so we can review it.

Unauthorized testing, scanning, or exploit attempts are prohibited even if your intent is to “test” the system.

17. Monitoring, detection, and platform safeguards

QuoteFinder.ca may use automated and manual measures to detect abuse and enforce this AUP, including rate limits, bot detection, fraud scoring, access restrictions, logging, moderation, and trust & safety review.

We may limit, block, or review activity when risk indicators are detected, including unusual traffic, repeated failed logins, scraping-like behavior, or suspicious messaging patterns.

18. Enforcement and consequences

Violations of this AUP may result in one or more actions, depending on severity, risk, and repeat behavior, including:

  • warnings or education notices;
  • content or message removal;
  • feature restrictions (including messaging, bidding, or access limits);
  • temporary holds, suspensions, or rate limits;
  • billing/credit restrictions or reviews (providers/team accounts);
  • team account seat restrictions or organization-level limits;
  • permanent account removal/termination;
  • referral to law enforcement or regulators where appropriate.

For more detail on enforcement processes, see our Trust & Safety Enforcement / Policy Violations page.

Urgent risk cases

QuoteFinder.ca may take immediate action without prior notice where we reasonably believe there is fraud, security risk, abuse, legal risk, or risk of harm to users or the platform.

19. Reporting abuse or suspected violations

If you see platform abuse, scraping, spam, impersonation, fraud, or suspicious activity connected to QuoteFinder.ca, please report it to us.

Reports are most useful when they include:

  • the page URL or feature involved;
  • what happened and when;
  • screenshots or message copies (if available);
  • the account/email/phone involved (if known);
  • why you believe it violates this AUP.

20. Relationship to other policies and terms

This AUP supplements (and does not replace) other QuoteFinder.ca terms and policies, including the Terms of Service (Clients), Terms for Agents / Provider Agreement, Terms for Brokerages / Team Accounts, Anti-Spam Policy, and Privacy Policy.

Where more specific rules apply to a feature (for example, billing, communications, content moderation, or trust & safety), those rules also apply in addition to this AUP.

21. Changes to this AUP

We may update this AUP from time to time to reflect changes in platform features, abuse patterns, legal requirements, or operational needs.

When this page is updated, we will post the revised version and update the “Last updated” date below.
